Each year, the people we elect levy taxes, approve local budgets, and pass ordinances to regulate zoning, development, roads, solid waste, and more. Others oversee operations that administer elections, maintain law and order, appraise properties, collect taxes, and maintain the county's books and records. How is Collier County's government organized?
Join us for a free lecture in which Sandy Parker will answer these questions and more in a Collier Civics 101 seminar that will give you a jump-start for being a more informed resident and voter. Parker is the founder and publisher of Sparker's Soapbox, which encourages and facilitates informed voting in Collier County and throughout Florida.
This event is a partnership between the Naples Daily News and Sparker's Soapbox. It is free.
Everyone who registers to attend the event will be:
- entered into a sweepstakes to win a goody bag from the Naples Daily News
- added to the Naples Daily News free daily email "Daily Briefing"
- added to the free digital Sparker's Soapbox newsletter, with helpful information about politics and news in Collier County and Florida
The Naples Daily News is hosting this seminar on three dates across Collier County: April 23 near Lely, April 30 near downtown and May 5 at the library headquarters in North Naples.
